MCLAUGHLIN EASTSHORE STATE
BRICKYARD PARK

Brickyard is situated on 30 acres shoreline park located at the base of University Ave in Berkeley.  The site improvements consists of shoreline access, site amenities, and habitat restoration at Brickyard site.  Public access improvements include substan-

tial walking paths and a new staging area with parking, an amphitheater gathering area, restrooms with substantial plaza and new seat wall and water fountains.

A herculean struggle since the 1980's has brought this 30 acre piece of the 72 acre McLaughlin Eastshore State Park to an envisioned public space.

A new palette of native plants are added to existing grasses.  Two hills with native wildflowers provide perches to view SF and Oakland skylines and bay views: entry rows of Torrey Pine trees welcome visitors to the park.  Strategically placed boulders provide additional play, seating and barriers to vehicular access.

EV charging stations, accessible parking and trails, and EBRPD design standards for gate entries, drinking fountains, signage are part of the park improvements.

Construction efforts provided new seat wall, color palette selections, prefabricated restroom and drainage support.
